We can’t believe it’s already November! Where did the year go?! Now that Thanksgiving and Halloween are over, we’re all ramping up for winter socials and holiday parties. But before we get to that, there’s still lots of things to see and do in Vancouver during November.

Body Worlds: Animal Inside Out – Science World
Event dates: October 3-March 28
Animal Inside Out features over 100 preserved animal specimens ranging from the common pigeon to an expertly dissected camel. Visitors will be able to check out what’s under the skin of some spectacular animals and determine what makes us the same – and different.
12th Heart of the City Festival – Downtown Eastside

The annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival is a cultural and heritage event that serves as a high impact, bridge building force that gives voice to the Downtown Eastside and its low income residents, cultural communities and neighbourhoods.

Pete Seeger was a folk singer, political activist and a key figure in he mid-20th century American folk music revival. He sang in defense of the poor, the oppressed, and the exploited; and always to enliven and encourage, to delight and to tell tales.

NEW WORK – Belgian-born Stijn Celis makes his first work for Ballet BC – an honour, as the in demand choreographer only develops a limited number of new creations outside of his own company. SOLO ECHO – Based in Vancouver, and celebrated globally, Crystal Pite explores recurring themes of acceptance and loss. 28,000 WAVES – When Cayetano Soto’s Twenty Eight Thousand Waves premiered in 2014, it was clear that magic had happened between the Company and the choreographer.

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II – Orpheum Theatre

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II celebrates the world’s most beloved Looney Tunes and their legendary stars projected on the big screen – Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Pepe Le Pew, Tweety, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner – while their extraordinary original scores are played LIVE by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra! 2015 Christmas Craft Market – West Convention Centre

Generations of locals and visitors have attended and enjoyed a market where they come face-to-face with fine BC and Canadian artisans and their work: wood-turners, glassblowers, sculptures and potters, clothing and jewellery designers, toymakers, and many more. Located in the Vancouver Convention Centre West, this has become a seasonal tradition for many.
Barbarians – Vancouver Playhouse

In 2009 Hofesh Shechter wowed Vancouver audiences with Uprising and In Your Rooms. He returns once again with a trilogy of captivating new works. Shechter’s choreography is at once charismatic and beautifully intricate, seductive and intelligent. With Barbarians, Schechter offers three distinct pieces imbued with his signature style.

For the past 29 years, the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver has been transformed into a forest of beautifully decorated trees, all in support of BC Children’s Hospital.
Canada vs Honduras – BC Place
Event date: November 13 | Time: 7pm
Canada’s Men’s National Team will open the next round of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers at BC Place in Vancouver. The all-important, international fixture will pit Canada against Honduras.
It’s a Wonderful Life – Granville Island Stage

Sensational Melodies – Orpheum Theatre
Event dates: November 14-15
Maestro Bramwell Tovey conducts sensational British pianist Stephen Hough, in a performance of Schumann’s brilliant and melodic Classical masterpiece, the Piano Concerto in A minor. Rounding out the program is Wagner’s beautiful Prelude to Act III of Tristan und Isolde, and Bartok’s fantastic Concerto for Orchestra.

Lights of Hope Celebration and Fireworks – St Paul’s Hospital

Thousands of Vancouverites and tourists will gather around Burrard Street to experience the annual fireworks display at St. Paul’s Hospital.
Patrick Maliha – The Comedy Mix
Event dates: November 19-21
Patrick Maliha is the world record holder for most impressions in one minute – beating out the previous record holder, Dana Carvey. His act has been described as Ray Romano meets a 21st century Don Rickles.
Lights of Hope – St. Paul’s Hospital
Event dates: November 19-January 4
An annual fundraising campaign to support St. Paul’s Hospital. This spectacular display features more than 200 shining stars and 10km of twinkling lights all built by volunteers using donated materials.
Candytown at Yaletown – Mainland Street
Event date: November 21 | Time: 12pm-7pm
Lights and candy canes will adorn lamp poles and costumed characters will parade down the street. Holiday shoppers are invited to start their seasonal gift buying in Yaletown with local merchants as well as a specialty market carrying unique gifts and holiday treats.
Choral Masterpiece: Faure’s Requiem – Orpheum Theatre

Maestro Bramwell Tovey presents a performance of Faure’s luminous and profoundly beautiful Requiem. Stravinsky’s deeply moving Symphony of Psalms and Haydn’s rich and aristocratic Military Symphony set the stage for Faure’s choral masterpiece.
Social Studies – Firehall Arts Centre

A new Canadian play by Trish Cooper about a South Sudanese “lost boy” adopted by a well-intentioned Winnipeg family. This rich comedy takes on Canadian values and cultural differences, yielding hilarious results.

Christmas Queen 2 – You Better Watch Out! – Vancouver Theatre Sports League

This year’s version in the continuing Christmas Queen saga, Christmas Queen 2 is set at the North Pole and Santa’s Workshop. VTSL’s popular improvised fairytale sees the larger-than-life, blue-haired Christmas Queen drop in on Ol’ Saint Nick and create a little chaos in the week leading up to the big day.
