Earlier this month, two members of the Pan Pacific Vancouver Concierge Team, Miriam Edwards and Romuel Escobar, attended the BC Les Clefs d’Or reception to receive an award marking their 5 years of service.

Not only that, Miriam was also recognized with a certificate of recognition for social media effort from Tourism Industry Partners and awarded an all expense paid bursary to attend the 63rd annual Les Clefs d’Or World Congress in Dubai this April!

We couldn’t be more proud! Congratulations to Miriam and Romuel on the achievements!

Christmas Wish Breakfast on TV

Global TV has produced a one hour documentary on 2015 Pan Pacific Vancouver Christmas Wish Breakfast. The program is from the start of the set up the day/night prior and then picking up first thing in the morning capturing the guests arriving to drop off toys/donations and then having breakfast.

Here are the times the program will air:

Friday, December 25 – 7pm and overnight at 3am

Saturday, December 26 – 4pm and overnight at 1am

Thursday, December 31 – 4pm and overnight at 1am

Here’s where you can watch it:

In the Lower Mainland, Shaw customers will have two options to watch BC1, on 21 for SD and 216 for HD.

Outside the Lower Mainland, BC1 is carried on channel 111.

BC1 SD (CH 21) or (CH 111) is only available for Shaw customers with a cable box.

BC 1 HD (CH 216) is only available for Shaw customers with a newer model cable box.

On older cable boxes the viewer may only hear the sound but not see pictures.

BC 1 is not yet available on Shaw Direct satellite receivers

BC 1 is not available on TELUS Optik TV

BC 1 is not available on Bell ExpressVu

New Year’s Eve at Canada Place

For the first time in more than a decade, Vancouver will reinstate a yearly tradition by ringing in the New Year with a fully-inclusive and family-friendly countdown celebration to midnight. NYE VAN will be a free, public event that will include live music, multicultural programming and entertainment, and of course, fireworks! The event will utilize outdoor space at Canada Place and surrounding areas along Canada Place Way from Howe Street to Burrard Street.

Highlights of the inaugural NYE VAN celebration will include:

• Festival animation beginning at 6pm along Canada Place Way such as food carts, exhibits, roaming attractions and entertainment
• Stage performances on Canada Place Way from 6pm to midnight
• “Early Eve” Countdown Celebration designed for families at 9pm
• Midnight Countdown Celebration, culminating with a major high-aerial fireworks display launched from a barge in Coal Harbour
• Illuminated Sails of Light at Canada Place

Please note the fireworks cannot be seen from English Bay or Spanish Banks. Additionally, fireworks viewing capacity and sight lines on Jack Poole Plaza and Harbour Green Park will be severely restricted. Guests are recommended to view the fireworks along the north side or the east promenade of VCC west, then Canada Place way from Burrard all the way up to the stage, including the west plaza of Canada Place.

The event will be live broadcast by Global TV between 11pm and midnight and the fireworks soundtrack will be simulcast on 102.7 The PEAK for your enjoyment.

When the Three Tenors Visited Vancouver

It’s Throwback Thursday! We open our vaults to share with you our famous past guests.

Before there was Il Divo, there was the Three Tenors. The popular operatic singing group consisted of Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras and were quite the phenomenon during the 1990s and early 2000s. The trio performed the world over, sung at FIFA World Cup Final and recorded numerous live concert albums, which went gold or platinum.

And in 1996 and 1997, these larger-than-life men visited Vancouver and stayed the Pan Pacific.

Christmas Wish Breakfast Bigger Than Ever

Can we just say WOW, Vancouver?

The results are in! This year, Christmas Wish Breakfast saw over 5,000 generous Vancouverites come down to the Hotel to donate a record-breaking 17+ tonnes of toys, 1,000 bikes and more than $22,000 in cash donations to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. In the span of three hours!

Chris Bayliss, Executive Director of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau had this to say:

“This is our biggest event of the year. Because of the generosity of everyone who attended, we will be able to take care of thousands of families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to celebrate Christmas.”

Everyone who turned up between the early hours of 6am-9am to donate a toy was treated to a hot buffet breakfast. Executive Chef Bob Wiles and the Pan Pacific culinary team cooked up 11,000 eggs, 11,642 sausages, 1,152 pounds of hash browns and 4,600 croissants.Everybody left happy. Nobody left hungry!

Volunteers from the City of Vancouver Fire Department stacked the toys into a two story high “tree.”  The crowds were entertained by the Good Noise Gospel Choir, rising country music star Madelyne Merlo, the Goh Ballet, the Langley Ukulele Ensemble and visits from Santa Claus.  The entire event was broadcast live with our longtime supporters, Global TV and Rock 101.

Can you believe that 2015 is almost over?! The year has just flown by, non?

For many, the last month of the year is a time for celebration and reflection.
